I’m so excited to share this with everyone. I recently joined an Instagram group launched via an awesome Facebook page called ‘Bossy’. Bossy is a collective of female and non-binary artists, mainly based in the UK I believe, though I’m sure there are members from all over the world. It’s an amazing group encouraging creativity and female solidarity within all artistic industries. The Instagram group was created to allow us to easily share posts with each other that we felt we might enjoy and to give us a platform through which we could actively help and support each other’s work.
Through this group I’ve met a load of incredible female artists. One of whom is the gorgeous actress and model Phoebe Lourdes. You can check out her work on Instagram here.
Phoebe approached me on Instagram and asked me if there was a way in which we could work together. I was so thrilled about this because I have been wanting to launch Fashion themed stickers for a while and her photos provided the perfect inspiration for me to create some awesome new sticker designs.
In a world in which the media can be very harsh on women and beauty I found Phoebe’s photos totally refreshing. They are undoubtedly beautiful, but she depicts herself as a real woman, with a real body – they are not highly edited, they do not promote stupid diet fads – they celebrate true, natural beauty and this is something I wanted to replicate in the stickers. Some of the stickers look a lot like Phoebe, some I have used artistic licence to try and represent a different demographic of women, but all have been inspired directly from her photographs.
I wanted to write a blog post partly because this is my first ever collaboration but also because I wanted to demonstrate how amazing things can happen when women work together. There is a lot of pressure, particularly in creative industries, to ‘compete’. It can feel a bit like a dog eat dog world – but by collaborating and supporting each other wonderful results can be achieved.
The stickers are available to order now on my Etsy. I hope that you’ll check them out.
Keep your eyes peeled for more collaborations coming in the next few weeks!
That’s all for now!
